🔬 Foldscope at ISTE and the National STEAM Conference

Foldscope was featured at two major education events this summer. At ISTE Live 25 in San Antonio (June 29–July 2), Director of Growth Chris Lowe connected with educators, who praised Foldscope as a refreshing hands-on science tool among largely digital offerings. Many highlighted its value for tactile learners and its role in sparking real-world curiosity.

On July 8–9, Foldscope sponsored the National Arts Integration and STEAM Conference in Baltimore. Chris and Education Specialist Holly Stuart led a packed workshop on Foldscope 2.0 and arts-integrated lessons, drawing over 70 participants. With 750 registered attendees and online access extending its reach, Foldscope’s presence made a strong impact.

Foldscoper of the Month - June - Congrats Anupma! 🎉

Dr. Harshal is a scientist, educator, and mentor with a PhD in Biochemistry from Mumbai University. She brings together academic research and community engagement, having led more than 150 Foldscope workshops across India, including in rural and underserved regions. She first encountered Foldscope through the Indo US Foldscope Grant. What began with just ten paper microscopes turned into large-scale workshops, where students of all backgrounds discovered the joy of seeing the microscopic world with their own eyes.

For Dr. Harshal, Foldscope represents the power of learning through observation. From dirty water samples to plant structures and insect life, she uses Foldscope to help students explore science in everyday environments and ask meaningful questions. Through her work with the Lodha Genius Program and her efforts to build Foldscope communities in schools and colleges, Dr. Harshal is making scientific tools more accessible and inspiring the next generation of learners.
